Us Against Whatever: A Karaoke Cabaret by Middle Child will take place at the Hull Truck Theatre from Wednesday 27 March to Wednesday 3 April.
The new show from Hull’s award-winning Middle Child theatre company is a story about life in Hull, told by two women who come together in a city centre karaoke bar. It follows Anna, a Polish woman who is starting to think she made a mistake in moving to Hull, and Steph, who sees her home city changing under years of austerity. The Paper Cinema’s Macbeth takes place at Hull Minster on 29 March and 30 March as part of the Heads Up Festival.
One of the picks of this season’s Heads Up Festival, this re-imagining of the Shakespeare tragedy as a cautionary tale for our times. The company takes its audience on a journey through rugged Scottish landscapes to encounter storms, battles betrayal and murderous plots. Shakespeare’s tragedy is brought to life as beautifully drawn puppets, evocative music, Foley sound and cinematic projection combine in a captivating silent film created before your eyes. 3. Ladylike by Ella Mesma Company

Ladylike by Ella Mesma will be shown on 30 March at the Ferens Art Gallery.
In the wake of #MeToo comes this furious and funny show from Ella Mesma Company. Ladylike is a new piece of dance theatre which takes a fierce, frank and humorous look at the potential and limitations of gender roles in modern day society. It is part of IETM, a worldwide network of more than 500 performing arts groups and artists from more than 50 countries, which has chosen Hull for its first meeting of all its members in the UK since 2010. 4. Portrait of Sir Thomas More

The portrait has been loaned to Ferens Art Gallery by the Royal Collection.
The portrait of Sir Thomas More, c.1526-7, by Hans Holbein the Younger – a masterpiece from the Royal Collection – goes in display this weekend until Sunday 23 June. Holbein’s Sir Thomas More portrait marks the third of five exceptional works of art from the Royal Collection to go on display at the Ferens Art Gallery between 2017 and 2021, as part of Masterpieces in Focus from the Royal Collection. 5. Junior parkrun

The junior parkrun takes place at Alderman Kneeshaw recreation ground every Sunday at 9am.
This Sunday will see the first junior parkrun held at Alderman Kneeshaw recreation ground in east Hull. Children aged from four to 14 can walk, jog or run their way around the 2k course. Hull is the only place in the region to have a junior parkrun – set up in April 2017 at Peter Pan Park, west Hull. It has hosted 94 events, with around 100 children attending each week and more than 7,500 completions of the course. The free event takes place every Sunday at 9am. Get more details here.
