Hull City Council will be among hundreds of organisations across the country taking part in Love Parks Week 2023.
The campaign brings local communities together to celebrate and support our green spaces and the environment on our doorstep.
This year’s week of action also aims to address inequality in women and girls feeling able to safely access parks. Many experience and fear different forms of intimidation and violence, such as unwelcome remarks and gestures, reducing their freedom to enjoy and benefit from our green spaces.
Hull City Council is joining Keep Britain Tidy in advocating for all women and girls to be able to safely access and use local green spaces.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said:
“The Love Parks campaign would not be possible without the backing of our local authority partners, park managers and landowners.
“We are so grateful for the ongoing support from Hull City Council.
“As the operator of the Green Flag Award for high quality parks, we believe parks and play spaces should be designed and managed in a way that makes them reassure and welcoming to women and girls and we would urge all the partners we work with to have consideration for this research.”
