Council to enhance safety with new zebra crossing installation on Ings Road

Hull City Council has confirmed that a new zebra crossing on Ings Road will be installed next week, enhancing pedestrian safety at the junction with Tween Dykes Road.

The zebra crossing will provide a designated area for pedestrians to cross safely, with clear road markings to encourage drivers to slow down for pedestrians and reduce the risk of accidents.

Works are scheduled to begin on Monday 1 July and are expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, weather permitting.

For the safety of contractors and the travelling public, the works will be undertaken using temporary traffic lights.

The bus stop on Ings Road will also be suspended during these works, with a temporary bus stop installed further along the road.

Emergency access will be maintained at all times and bin collections will continue as normal.

Ian Cappleman, highways programme manager at Hull City Council, said: “As a council, we recognise the importance of creating safe and accessible pedestrian crossing points, to reduce the risk of accidents on our city’s roads.

“The installation of the new zebra crossing on Ings Road is a positive step forward, as it will provide a designated area for pedestrians to cross safely. We hope this new crossing makes residents feel more confident when walking around the area.

“We would like to thank our residents in advance for their patience and understanding while we carry out these works.”

The scheme will be carried out by PBS Construction Limited on behalf of the council.
