Hull City Council is again warning residents they could face enforcement action if they dispose of waste illegally.
It comes after a woman from London was fined for fly-tipping waste from a vehicle in Hull.
Evidence was submitted to the council by a business which had CCTV footage showing bagged household waste being fly-tipped on De Grey Street, Hull, in April this year. The woman responsible for fly-tipping the waste paid the £400 fixed penalty notice.
Councillor Rosie Nicola, Portfolio Holder for Waste Management, said: “We will not take fly-tipping lightly in this city and are determined to continue to take a tough line on these offences.
“Fly-tipping is not only unsightly, but it is extremely harmful to the environment and causes clean-up costs that are ultimately paid for by the council tax paid by residents. There are plenty of responsible ways to dispose of your waste in the city, including Hull’s excellent household waste and recycling centres.
“Residents should also check with the Environment Agency to make sure those disposing of waste are legally allowed to do so.”
Hull residents should dispose of recycle household waste through household bin collections, or at one of the city’s three modern household waste and recycling centres designed to maximise recycling and can be accessed through Hull’s Residents’ Pass Scheme.

If using anyone other than the council to collect and remove waste, residents should always ensure this only takes place with a registered waste carrier and check them out before paying and giving waste to them.
