Meet the team helping residents to cope with sensory loss

Experiencing any form of sensory loss can be life-changing.

Hull City Council offers a huge amount of support and guidance to children and adults who are deaf and/or blind, and to celebrate DeafBlind Awareness Week, we meet the team who provide an invaluable service.

Julia and Natalie work in the sensory care team, helping those with dual sensory loss:

People can be born with a dual sensory impairment or they can experience sight and hearing loss at any stage of their life. Often hearing and vision loss can come on gradually.

DeafBlind UK, are encouraging people to get outdoors, especially for those with deafblindness. The fresh air and gentle exercise can help to reduce stress, anxiety, short-term memory loss and concentration levels.

In later life, people often think this is a natural part of the ageing process and can sometimes go unrecognised in the early stages

If you experience any form of sensory loss then there are a number of options available for you to get advice information and support. Find more information here.
