Hull City Council has appointed Angela Blake as its new assistant director of major projects & infrastructure.
Angela joins the council from her role as the assistant director economy and development at Bradford Council, with responsibility for major projects, housing, economic development, regeneration and external funding
Born and raised in Beverley with an extensive background in economic development and regeneration, Angela is returning to Hull, where it all started for her, having previously worked at Hull City Council (and previously Humberside County Council) from 1994 to 2004.
As well as working at Hull and Bradford councils, Angela worked for Yorkshire Forward and North East Lincolnshire Council, in roles that also focussed on economic development, economy, growth, regeneration, and partnerships, bringing with her a great deal of experience.

Angela said: “I am really looking forward to coming back to Hull.
“I still have many friends in the city and I am looking forward to reacquainting with them, whilst also meeting new faces.
“I can’t wait to get stuck into major projects in the city, such as East Bank Urban Village in particular, as I already have an established relationship with ECF through the City Village scheme they are developing in Bradford.
“Recent regeneration in Hull has made headlines and it’s exciting that I can play a key part in its next phase.”
Chris Jackson, director of regeneration at the council, said: “I am really pleased that, following a competitive recruitment process, Angela will be joining Hull City Council as assistant director for major projects and infrastructure early next month.
“Angela knows the city well but will also bring a wealth of external experience from delivering major projects and supporting economic development and regeneration elsewhere. It is an exciting time for regeneration across the city.
“I look forward to welcoming Angela back to Hull and working with her on some of our key projects such as the Maritime programme and key urban regeneration developments at East Bank and Albion Square.”
