People across Hull will observe a one-minute silence tomorrow to remember healthcare staff and other key workers who have lost their lives due to coronavirus.
Councillor Stephen Brady, Leader of Hull City Council, and Matt Jukes, the local authority’s chief executive, are inviting the city’s residents to join the national act of remembrance.
The one-minute silence will take place on Tuesday 28 April at 11am. It is supported by the trade unions and coincides with International Workers’ Memorial Day, an annual event that commemorates workers who have died.
Councillor Brady said: “We can feel a bit helpless in times like these but unifying in a dignified silence, for a moment of reflection, is the ultimate way to pay respect to those who have sacrificed their lives from working on the frontline of this devastating illness.”
