Hull City Council are set to undertake essential carriageway resurfacing works on the roundabout connecting Brighton Street, Witty Street and Freightliner Road.
The scheme aims to renew the failed area of the carriageway, ensuring the highway provides a safe and even surface for traffic with adequate grip and skid resistance.
The work will start on Friday 2 May and it is planned to take four nights to complete – weather permitting.
To maintain safety, Brighton Street will be closed overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am, with traffic diversions in place for road users.
The works will be carried out in the following two phases to minimise the impact on local residents and businesses:
- Phase 1 (northern section of roundabout) 8pm to 1am: Traffic will be diverted. Access to Freightliner Road and to the businesses on the eastern side of Brighton Street will be provided via Witty Street under temporary traffic lights.
- Phase 2 (southern section of roundabout) 1am to 6am: Traffic will be diverted. Access to Freightliner Road will be provided via Witty Street under temporary traffic lights. No access to Brighton Street southbound.
The pedestrian footpaths will remain open, and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Gillian Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “Improving the condition of our road network is a key priority for us as a council, to ensure all carriageways remain safe and reliable for all users.
“By completing this scheme overnight, we aim to minimise disruption.
“We thank local residents and businesses in advance for their patience as we work to enhance the highway infrastructure in this area of Hull.”
The scheme will be carried out by PBS Construction Limited on behalf of the council.
