The Government has launched a national consultation about improving support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The consultation, SEND Reform: Putting Children and Young People First, was published on Monday 23 February and is seeking the views of families in Hull and across England.
The proposals aim to:
- provide help earlier and more fairly,
- make support more consistent wherever you live,
- improve cooperation between schools, councils, and health services,
- ensure children and young people get the right support at the right time.
Your experiences and views are vital. Whether your child currently receives SEND support, has an EHCP, or you simply want to help shape the future system, you can share your views here. The consultation closes on Monday 18 May at 11.59pm.
Please consider sharing your thoughts – the more families who participate, the stronger the SEND system in Hull and beyond can be in the future.
Councillor Tock said: “Families and young people are at the heart of this consultation. We know there are challenges within the current SEND system, and it’s vital that we tell the Government what is working and what needs to change.
“I would strongly encourage everyone with experience of SEND support to take part and help shape a system that truly puts children and young people in Hull first.”
