A series of informal ‘drop-in’ sessions will take place across Hull in 2024 to help enhance bus services and grow passenger numbers in the city.
The events are being hosted by the Hull Bus Alliance, which comprises of Hull City Council and the two main local bus operators, Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire Buses, as members.
The alliance was recently granted ‘enhanced partnership’ status by the Department for Transport and will be working closely together to rollout plans that deliver better bus services for the city and for passengers.
The programme of drop-in sessions will allow residents to speak to representatives from the council and both bus operators directly and will provide an opportunity to ask any questions, provide feedback to help improve service provision within the city and to find out more about subjects as varied as timetable information or discounted travel options.
The first drop-in session takes place at Tesco on Hall Road, Orchard Park, on Thursday 1 February, from 9.30am-4.30pm.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council, said: “These sessions are a great way for us, as a council, and the local operators to hear directly from residents, whether they are regular passengers or are thinking of using the bus more.
“The overriding aim of the alliance is to help increase the number of people using buses across Hull, so feedback is important as it will help us deliver the bus services that the people of Hull deserve and expect.”

Ben Gilligan, managing director of East Yorkshire Buses, added: “These drop-in events are a fantastic opportunity to connect with passengers and encourage bus usage. We’re looking forward to supporting the alliance in delivering these events across the year and inviting more people on board.”
Further drop-in sessions have tentatively been pencilled in for:
- Northpoint Shopping Centre – Wednesday 5 June
- Kingswood ASDA – Monday 17 June
- Queen Victoria Square – Monday 23 September
- ASDA, Hessle Road – Tuesday 26 November.
