Hull has it all. Where else can you see a face-off of world snooker giants, a punk-pop circus opera, a Bavarian beer bash, a look at the future through sci-fi and a chance to spot yourself at top cultural events?

1. UK Seniors Snooker Championship

The tour returns to Hull with more of snooker’s greatest ever players battling it out live on TV to lift the crown. Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor, John Parrott and Cliff Thorburn are already confirmed, while a new face in Thailand legend James Wattana is also in the field.
Jimmy White is one of a host of stars appearing at this year’s UK Seniors Snooker Championship in Hull.
Six sessions take place at 10am, 2.30pm and 7pm on Thursday and Friday. Ticket prices start at £8 each. Book tickets here
2. Back To Bransholme: A 1940s Punk-Pop Circus Opera

Have you seen the ghost of the airman? Plenty have. It’s 1942 and where North Point Shopping Centre now stands is RAF Sutton on Hull, home to the Fabric Bashers – hundreds of women making the fabric for the barrage balloons floating over the Humber. One still, starlit evening, Flight Lieutenant Frank Dobbs and Basher Edie Wilson lindyhop their way to love at the RAF dance.

3. Equanipolis: Aniara Omann

The two-floor exhibition from Danish artist Aniara Omann uses sculpture, textiles and animatronics to explore what the future of humanity might look like.

4. Oktoberfest

Free entry, £5 for glass, guide and beer
This fantastic city centre market will be transformed into a Bavarian bierkeller, bringing music, Bavarian-inspired food, family-friendly fun and, of course, beer.
Brews from local favourites will be on sale alongside traditional Munich breweries. Entry to the market is free, while a branded glass, festival guide and a beer will cost you just a fiver.
5. The Back To Ours Album: Part One
