Hull’s free festival style event for ages 11 to 16 is back to kick off summer with a bang. Zebfest, which debuted last year, will take place in Zebedee’s Yard on Wednesday July 24, 2.30-6.30pm. For no charge, young people will be able to enjoy live music, a silent disco, pizza making, archery and axe throwing, a clothes swap, glitter bar, Beats Bus, crafting, street art and more.
Zebfest is part of the Healthy Holidays programme, which is providing the usual huge range of free sessions for school-aged children and young people throughout the long summer break.
The event is the perfect way for young people to celebrate the end of term, have fun and find out about all the other activities taking place right through to September. Tickets and booking are not required – just turn up and enjoy.
Cllr Linda Tock, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People, Families and Learning, said: “Last year’s Beat the Heat event was so popular that it’s back for 2024 with the name Zebfest! It’s a great way for young people to start summer with an event designed with them and their interests in mind.
“It’s just the beginning of a whole summer of entertainment. Healthy Holidays is such an established part of school breaks now, for both children and young people and their parents. Over the course of the summer there is the huge range of sessions, activities and entertainment that people have come to expect.
“There are opportunities to try kayaking, rock climbing, boardgame making, bushcraft, drama, steetdance, slime-making and days out. There’s also plenty of the more traditional things you might expect, like sports camps, football, netball, cricket and other sports.
“Everything is free, sessions are available to view and book on the website now. There’s no eligibility criteria, so anyone can get involved, and almost all sessions include a nutritious food offer.
“The other side of the Healthy Holidays programme is the essential service it provides. The cost of living crisis has not gone away and people are still struggling. The sessions provide nutritious food as well as entertainment, which now more than ever, is invaluable for those who are struggling”.
Zebfest takes place Wednesday July 24, Zebedee’s Yard, city centre, 2.30-6.30pm. All those aged 11 to 16 can attend – no need to book, just turn up. For more events for young people, as well as children, visit: www.healthyholidayshull.org.
