Lord Mayor’s Civic Service to take place

The annual Lord Mayor’s Civic Service will take place at Hull Minster later this week.

All are welcome to attend, with the service starting at 2pm this Sunday, 28 June.

A civic procession will take place beforehand, starting at 1.40pm at the Guildhall, with the procession heading back there at the culmination of the service at around 3.15pm.

The procession will be led by the Humberside Police band.

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Maria Coward, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for people in the city to come together in the stunning setting of Hull Minster.

“The traditional civic service recognises the importance of Hull City Council working together with church leaders in supporting people in our community.

“This year’s occasion is extra special from a personal point of view, as my chaplain for the year is my sister, Angela, and she’s assisted me in putting together what I hope will be a well-received service.”

Councillor Coward was installed as the city’s 113th Lord Mayor and Admiral of the Humber at a ceremony at the Guildhall earlier this month.
