Hull’s biggest free street festival is to return, boosted by a donation from the Leader of Hull City Council.
The Vista Festival will take place on Princes Avenue on Saturday 8 July, from 3:00pm to 9:30pm.
Thousands will be entertained by live music, art installations and street entertainment, while food outlets will offer dishes from around the globe.
Local schools, dance academies and bands will be involved in the celebration of the culture of HU5, with visitors joining residents at a free, family-friendly event.
Councillor Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, is supporting the event with funding from the Leader’s Contingency Fund, allowing organisers to provide a free children’s funfair.
He said: “I’m very pleased to be able to award this grant to the Vista Festival, which is enjoyed by people from across the city, and beyond.
“The event has been staged since 2006, and it’s fantastic to be able to help put it on again.”
David Stead, event and artistic director for the Vista Festival, said: “Around 10,000 people came to the Festival last year, and it’s incredibly important to the people and businesses of Princes Avenue.
“The local community comes together to enjoy the street entertainers and performers.
“We feel it’s important to be inclusive of all ages at the Festival, and this funding will allow the children to enjoy a free funfair.”
The Vista Festival is organised by the Princes Avenue Community and Traders (PACT), which is a voluntary group set up to promote the local community and businesses.
