An urgent call has been made for patients to return beds, mattresses and commodes they borrowed and no longer use.
National provider NRS Healthcare, which has a base in Hull and works with the city’s services to provide specialist medical equipment, has launched the Hand It Back campaign to ensure those who need help can continue to get it during the coronavirus pandemic.
Patients are asked to call NRS Healthcare, which will then come and collect the items, maintaining social distancing.
Debbie Parker, Hull CCG’s clinical commissioning officer for equipment and wheelchairs, said: “Please make sure that any items you are returning have an NRS sticker, including a barcode, on them. It will help us verify the items of equipment are safe and fit for purpose for the next patient”.
Julia Weldon, director of Public Health at Hull City Council, said: “It’s really important everyone has access to the items they need to be comfortable and safe. I’d encourage everyone who still has equipment they’re no longer using to arrange for it to be collected as soon as possible.”

All items returned to NRS Healthcare undergo thorough cleaning and testing prior to being loaned to the next patient. NRS Healthcare will schedule the collections from service users and communicate with the service users direct.
