Sharon Hofman has been elected as the new councillor in the Bricknell ward.
The results of the by-election are:
- John Fareham (Conservative) – 418 votes
- Sharon Hofman (Labour) – 919 votes
- Lucy Lennon (Liberal Democrats) – 647 votes
- Kevin Paulson (Green) – 98 votes
- James Steele (Yorkshire Party) – 19
The new political make-up of the council is:
- Liberal Democrat Group – 32
- Labour Group – 25
The turnout for the by-election was 35 per cent.
The Bricknell ward covers an area from Newland Park to Bricknell Avenue, National Avenue and part of County Road North.
