Footpath resurfacing works planned for three west Hull streets

Three streets in west Hull will undergo essential resurfacing next month, to provide much-needed improvements to the footpaths.

As part of the council’s investment in the city’s footpaths, improvements and resurfacing works will take place on Barrington Avenue, Hutton Close, and Salton Avenue.

The improvements will involve resurfacing and reconstructing areas of the footpaths which have deteriorated.  Once finished the newly improved footpaths will provide a safe and even surface for local residents.

Works are scheduled to begin on Monday 2 October and are expected to take approximately six weeks to complete, weather permitting.

To reduce the impact on residents the work will be carried out in three separate stages on the following dates:

  • Barrington Avenue – Monday 2 October to Monday 16 October
  • Hutton Close – Monday 16 October to Monday 30 October
  • Salton Avenue – Monday 30 October to Monday 13 November

To allow these works to be done safely, they will be undertaken under footpath closure. However, access will be maintained for residents.

The existing footpaths are in need of improvement.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways at Hull City Council, said: “These works are essential to repair and maintain the surface of the footpaths, to stop them falling into poor condition.

“The council is focused on ensuring all footpaths are safe and we know that residents will welcome the smooth new surfaces once they are completed.”

The scheme will be funded by Hull City Council’s Capital Footway Programme and carried out by PBS Construction Limited on behalf of the Council.
