Money was raised during the various events held during Councillor Neal’s mayoral year, which lasted from May 2023 to May of this year.

He said: “We put on some fantastic events during my time as Lord Mayor, where it was great to see so many people come together to get involved.

“I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to raise thousands of pounds for charities that benefit people in our city.

“I know the current Lord Mayor has some great occasions planned, and I encourage everyone to come out to show their support for those.”

Hull LGBT+ Community Pride will also benefit to the tune of almost £1,000.

It organised the Lord Mayor’s Rainbow Valentine’s Ball in February, where all of the acts gave up their time free of charge.

Half of the proceeds from the ticket sales from that event have been donated to the charity.
