Two men and a woman have been fined for fly-tipping waste in Hull, after CCTV cameras caught them in the act.
Danut Volovaci of Suffolk Terrace, Hull, was prosecuted and ordered to pay £826 after a mobile CCTV camera caught him fly-tipping a sofa on Suffolk Street, Hull.

Sofia Musi of Blaydes Street, Hull, was also prosecuted and ordered to pay £1,451 after a mobile CCTV camera caught her dumping household waste in Haworth Street on two separate occasion’s last tear.

Michal Stanek of Spring Bank, Hull, was prosecuted and ordered to pay £684 after a CCTV camera captured him dumping bags of household waste in a public grassed area near West Parade, Spring Bank, Hull.

Doug Sharp, head of waste management at Hull City Council, said: “This action shows that we will not let people get away with fly-tipping in our city.
“Our CCTV and mobile cameras have led to these successful prosecutions, and shows that the council will continue to take a tough line on fly-tipping.
“Fly-tipping is extremely harmful to the environment and causes unnecessary cost to the council to clean it up. There are plenty of lawful ways to dispose of your waste in the city.”
To ensure waste is not fly-tipped, residents should follow these guidelines:
- Dispose and recycle household waste through regular kerbside collections
- To dispose of unwanted bulky household items, call 01482 300300 or visit hull.gov.uk
- All household waste and recycling sites remain open and social distancing rules should be followed. Find more on the Hull City Council website
- If you use a contractor, always ask to see a waste carrier’s licence and check them out with the Environment Agency by calling 08708 506506 or visit the Environment Agency website
- Don’t pay cash and always ask for a receipt – if prices seems too good to be true, they probably are. If waste is subsequently found fly-tipped, the resident could be fined or face prosecution
