Hull City Council’s Warm Homes Team is to raise awareness of the valuable help available to residents and tradespeople by opening a short-term pop-up Advice Hub.
The drop-in will be in the city centre at 18 Whitefriargate between Monday 22 and Friday 26 September.
It will provide residents with the opportunity to understand the way that the Council is working together with business to reduce fuel poverty and improve energy efficiency.
Hull City Council will be joined by counterparts from the East Riding Council, along with partner organisations including Ideal Heating, E.ON, HEY Credit Union, Citizens Advice, Living with Water, and NHS Talking Therapies.
Ideal Heating manufactures Air Source Pumps in the city and operates major training and research facilities which, with the support of Boot Camp funding, are training local plumbing engineers to install the new technologies.
It also provide business sponsorship to boost the Cost of Living Community Grants available via Hull City Council, which local groups are able to use to provide Warm Spaces and other activities.
E.ON is partnering with the Council to develop local supply chains to install carbon neutral solutions for residents funded with the support of grant funding.
By bringing partners together in one place, the Advice Hub is a key step on the journey to raising understanding for residents, tradespeople and communities of the opportunities to access practical help and guidance, to complement the increasing information on resources available via the Warm Homes Team on the Hull Warm Homes website.
Whether it’s learning about energy-saving measures, applying for grants, improving mental wellbeing, or exploring financial support options, the event is designed to empower households and groups to take control of their energy use and reduce costs.

Portfolio holder for housing, Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, said: “This pop-up provides a drop-in service for residents to find out what support is available to help them heat their homes in an efficient and environmentally-friendly way.
“We’re continuing to help people cope with the cost of living crisis, and having so many partner organisations all available in the same place at the same time means visitors to the Advice Hub can easily find out about things like home improvements or grants they may be eligible for.
“This is a welcome addition to vital work already being carried out by the Warm Homes Team, which provides an impartial fuel poverty advice service for householders to help them reduce the costs of keeping warm and well.”
Hull Warm Homes provides support for homeowners, council tenants, and those living in privately rented accommodation, including about energy efficiency and low carbon heat measures.
The Advice Hub also strengthens collaboration between local authorities and partners in tackling fuel poverty and helping to make Hull homes warmer.
The Advice Hub at 18 Whitefriargate will be open from 9:30am-4pm Monday 22-Thursday 25 September, and then from 9:30am-3pm on Friday 26 September.
