The Hull Street Race has been postponed in line with Government advice on tackling the outbreak of coronavirus.
The Greenpower Education Trust, the charity which organises the electric racing event, said in a statement that entrants were being contacted.
The event was expected to bring thousands of people to Hull city centre on Sunday 3 May.
The statement said: “Greenpower Education Trust, in collaboration with Hull City Council, has taken the difficult decision to postpone the Hull Street Race that was due to take place on Sunday 3 May.
“This decision has been taken in line with the UK Government’s stance on tackling the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).
“Greenpower’s priority at all times is the health, welfare and wellbeing of its participants, volunteers, staff and spectators. All entrants will be contacted in due course with a view to rescheduling the event to a later date
“Greenpower continues to monitor the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19 closely and is following guidance both the UK Government and Motorsport UK.
“Any further updates will be announced on our website and issued through Greenpower’s usual communications channels.
