Hull City Council has successfully obtained an injunction banning a Bransholme man from entering any commercial premises in the city for a year.
The injunction prohibits Liam Huteson, of Exton Close, Bransholme, from entering any commercial premises within the Hull boundary for 12 months, with the power of arrest attached.
It was sought by the council’s Neighbourhood Nuisance Team and issued at Hull County Court on Friday 4 September.
Huteson stood trial at Hull and Holderness Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 2 March, when he pleaded guilty to two counts of battery, two counts of threatening a person with a bladed or sharply pointed article in a public place and nine counts of shop theft. He was remanded in custody to appear before Hull Crown Court for sentencing.
He was sentenced to 38 weeks imprisonment and made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order for two years at Hull Crown Court on Thursday 1 July.
The man has been banned from all commercial premises in Hull for 12 months.
Due to time served on remand and delays at court due to Covid 19, Liam Huteson was due to be released on Tuesday 8 September.
Councillor Mike Thompson, Hull City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods, Communities And Environment, said the council sought to take action against Huteson due to the serious nature of his offences.
Cllr Thompson said: “The order shows this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Hull. It sends a message to those who steal from local shops and use threats of violence. Those who do so will be dealt with by the courts.”
