A popular coffee shop in west Hull will continue to serve the community thanks to support from Hull City Council and local volunteers.
Friends of Peter Pan Coffee Shop have been allocated £2,110 from the Leader’s contingency budget for purchasing of new equipment and making shop improvements.
The not-for-profit organisation is run by volunteers and is based at Costello Playing Fields in west Hull, offering free space to the community during spring and summer each year.
This year has seen the facility used more than ever, meaning upgraded current equipment to meet demand is required.
Volunteers are in need of new equipment and to also make some repairs to the building.
The funds will allow for the purchase of new fridges, tables and chairs, two coffee machines and a gazebo, as well as repairs to building shutters.
Cllr Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, said: “I am delighted to be able to agree the allocation of this funding to Peter Pan Coffee Shop.
“The café is part of the fabric at Costello Playing Fields and serves a vital purpose for residents across the area.
“The increase in demand this year shows its importance and I am happy to be able to support it and the hard work of local volunteers.”
