HCAL working with partners to safely manage East Park

Hull Culture and Leisure (HCAL) is working with partners to safely manage East Park.

The park’s main gates remain closed for the safety of users and cyclists, with access to East Park car park now being through Woodford car park. An overflow car park is also in use.

The closure of the main gates and these temporary parking arrangements will be reviewed in September following the school holidays.

Councillor Dave Craker, portfolio holder for culture and leisure at Hull City Council, said: “The decision to close the main gates was taken to protect users of the park and cyclists. The safety of visitors is always of paramount importance, but especially now during this pandemic.

“The car park remains accessible via Woodford and an overflow car park is also in use.”

Hull Culture and Leisure has met with partners, including Humberside Police, regarding reports of anti-social behaviour in East Park.

Councillor Craker said: “We are aware of reports of a small minority of people acting selfishly and irresponsibly in the park, especially at night. There have been issues regarding anti-social behaviour in parks across the country, with many factors being linked to lockdown.

“We have met with partners, including police and have put a plan together to encourage everyone to be respectful when using East Park.”
