Hull children receive their primary school place offer

Today is National Offer Day and families across Hull will have received their children’s primary school place allocation for September.

96% of pupils were offered their first preference of school this year.

99% of pupils obtained one of their three preferences.

In total, around 2,900 children make up the total cohort of pupils at Hull’s primary schools.

Pauline Turner, the Director of Children and Family Services at Hull City Council said: “I’m pleased to see that so many of our city’s pupils will be starting school at their primary of preference, with nearly all children being offered a place at one of their preferences.”

“This marks the start of a child’s journey into formal education, so it’s an exciting time for children and families across the city.”

Parents and guardians who applied online will receive their allocation by email, all others will be sent a letter today (Wednesday 16 April).

Parents do not have to confirm that they accept a place, but have until 2 May to let Hull City Council know if they wish to be removed from any waiting lists, or do not want to accept the offer.

If a parent does not accept a school place offer, they then must tell the council what arrangements they have made for their child’s education from September.
