Call for people to join Hull’s vaccine drive

An urgent call has been issued for workers to join a drive to get thousands of people vaccinated. Local NHS teams have urged applicants to register with the Humber Coast and Vale Vaccination Programme Bank. There are opportunities for several roles in the vaccine delivery programme. They may include admin, healthcare assistant and vaccine delivery positions.

Some of the jobs, including vaccinators, would involve training. Those who register with the bank will be helping ensure everyone in the area is able to have their booster jabs as soon as possible.

The project is part of a national drive to deliver as many jabs as possible by December 31.

Dr James Crick, Consultant in Public Health Medicine and Associate Medical Director for Hull City Council and Hull NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) encouraged people to apply.

He said: “These are paid roles. You don’t need to have worked in healthcare before, anyone who is actually administering the vaccine will be given full training. We need people to support with all aspects of delivering this project. Positions like admin roles are absolutely essential to ensure everything runs smoothly.

“We have a huge task ahead of us. It’s vital for people’s own protection and for the protection of the NHS that we get people vaccinated as soon as possible. Last time the NHS asked for help to deliver vaccines there was a fantastic response. We’re hoping people will step forward again”.

Registering does not guarantee work, but does allow for those who register to be offered employment as and when the need arises locally. The opportunities which are available will vary however may include administration, health care assistant duties and if appropriately trained, vaccinating.
