The removal of the Banksy artwork from Scott Street Bridge is under way.
The removal is necessary to preserve the artwork due to the deterioration of the bridge, which poses an increasing risk to shipping.
A Hull City Council spokesperson said: “We are in the process of removing the Banksy from Scott Street Bridge in order to try and preserve the artwork, before work to dismantle Scott Street Bridge can begin.
“This a complex operation that we are undertaking reluctantly as there is no future for the Scott Street Bridge on which the artwork is housed. We have little option but to take this course of action.
“There are risks involved with the removal process, but we are hopeful that Hull’s Banksy can be saved.”
