Could you help change the future of a child for the better?
Foster Care Fortnight – the UK’s biggest foster care awareness campaign – began this week and runs until Sunday 26 May.
In Hull, almost 500 children are in foster care with Hull Fostering, but the service needs more people from every type of background and experience to foster children and provide family-based care.
Judith Dent, fostering group manager, said: “Foster care transforms lives and you can really make a positive difference to a child’s life by becoming a foster carer.
“Foster carers need to be patient, understanding and have a genuine commitment to make a difference to a child’s life and, while we are proud of our current fantastic foster carers, we need more to provide family-based care to as many children who are in care as we can.
“There are more than 800 children from Hull who are looked after by the local authority for whom we strive to provide the best quality care.”
People who live within 35 miles of Hull can speak to Hull Fostering staff and other foster carers at event on Saturday from 10am to 2pm at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel. No appointment is necessary.
