Double success for Hull City Council at public service excellence awards

Hull City Council has claimed two honours at the 2024 Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) performance network awards.

Teams claimed the most improved performer award in both the Parks, Open Space and Horticultural category, as well as in the Street Cleansing category.

The prizes were given at a ceremony in Blackpool, where Hull City Council received 5 nominations in total.

Portfolio holder for environment, Councillor Charles Quinn, said: “It’s a really proud moment for the Council to be recognised in this way.

“We’ve been focusing on trying to get the basics right for the people of the city, so to receive awards for how our streets and green spaces look and run is very pleasing.

“We know that supporting communities by cleaning up areas of concern can help to combat anti-social behaviour and increase feelings of pride where people live, so I’d really like to thank the staff who’ve been involved in this.

“It’s great to see that work being hailed by their peers.”
