Footpath resurfacing works to begin in east Hull

Several footpaths in east Hull will undergo essential improvements and resurfacing this autumn/winter.

As part of the council’s investment in the city’s footpaths, improvements and resurfacing works will take place on Savoy Road, Antholme Road, Castleford Grove, Milford Grove, Ingleby Close, and Borrowdale.

These works are needed due to footpath deterioration and will provide a safe and even surface for residents.

Works are scheduled to begin on Monday 25 September and are expected to take approximately 11 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

To reduce the impact on residents the work will be carried out in separate phases on the following dates:

  • Savoy Road – Monday 25 September to Monday 2 October
  • Borrowdale – Monday 2 October to Friday 30 October
  • Antholme Road – Wednesday 11 October to Friday 27 October
  • Ingleby Close – Monday 30 October to Friday 10 November
  • Milford Grove – Monday 13 November to Friday 24 November
  • Castleford Grove – Monday 27 November to Tuesday 12 December
Savoy Road will be one of the areas to benefit from the improvement works.

To allow these works to be done safely, they will be undertaken under phased footpath closure. However, access will be maintained for residents.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads, and Highways at Hull City Council, said: “These works are essential to repair and maintain the surface of the footpaths, to stop them falling into poor condition.

“The council is focused on ensuring the city’s footpaths are safe and well-maintained, and we hope residents will welcome this investment in their local area.”

The scheme will be funded by Hull City Council’s Capital Footway Programme and carried out by EC Surfacing Limited on behalf of the Council.
