A dog that won the hearts of Hull yesterday, after being spotted tied to a lamppost, is on his way to a new home.
Max, a white boxer, was reported to Hull City Council by a concerned resident who found him on Scott Street.
When the council’s dog wardens arrived, they were also met by the dog’s owner who took the difficult decision to sign Max over into the council’s care.
A spokesperson for Hull City Council said: “Yesterday our dog wardens were called to a situation on Scott Street. Whilst there, the dog’s owner arrived and, after speaking to our dog wardens, they acknowledged they were no longer able to look after the animal and took the difficult decision to sign the dog over into our care.
“The dog, Max, was put into temporary accommodation last night where he was looked after and assessed by a vet.
“We are pleased to say that a place has been found for Max at a specialist boxer rescue centre, where he has been transferred to today. The rescue centre will look to find Max a permanent home.”
