Charities to receive boost from Hull rock concert

A rock concert is to be held at the historic Hull City Hall with the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal Fund set to benefit.

‘Daz’s Rock 4 Charity’ returns to the iconic venue on Friday 7 March, with a night of live music for all tastes and ages.

The gig will support the Lord Mayor’s chosen charities for 2024/25, which are Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University and Cruse Bereavement Support.

Also benefitting will be Variety, the Children’s Charity, of which Daz – AKA Darren Sims BEM – is an ambassador.

The show will feature Al Kilvo and David Barton of Two Pianos fame, below, accompanied by an energetic band.

Support will come from special guests Humber Harmony Chorus, below, who will demonstrate their amazing barber shop vocals.

It will also see the debut performance of Discovery on Tour, from Case Training Services.

Daz said: “I’m excited to be returning to Hull City Hall to bring back ‘Daz’s Rock 4 Charity’, which will be a fantastic night of live music.

“We hope to get as many people along as possible and raise as much as we can for the three supported charities so they can continue their amazing work.”

For his own performance, Daz has put together a band that includes legendary Hull drummer David Naylor, who will be playing his first gig back after beating cancer for a second time.

He will also perform with former Les Gray’s Mud bass player Dale Fry, with Sean McBride joining them on saxophone to play a set of crowd pleasers.

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Mark Collinson, said: “I’m really glad that we’ve been able to put the show together.

“Daz has received a British Empire Medal in recognition for the charitable fundraising he does, so he obviously knows a thing or two about these events!

“I’m looking forward to what should be a great night, and it’s been really good working with Daz on this.”

Doors open on the night at 7pm, with the show beginning at 7:30pm.

Tickets are £14.50 and are available via Daz’s Rock 4 Charity – Hull Theatres, or telephone the Hull City Hall Box Office on 01482 300 306.
