Hull City Council was awarded £100,000 from Historic England in 2021 as part of the Whitefriargate High Streets Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) to create and deliver community-led cultural activities on the high street.
The Hi! Whitefriargate Cultural Programme explores the significance of Hull Old Town’s most historic street. The project has so far included, new commissions, performances and exhibitions that reflect the rich heritage of Whitefriargate and celebrate the role that the street has played in the social and political history of the city, and its importance as a centre of commerce and social interaction.
