Lord Mayor’s Christmas Tree Festival back at Minster

The Lord Mayor’s annual Christmas Tree Festival will return to Hull Minster this December.

The popular event will run from Tuesday 3 December to Saturday 21 December, and will see dozens of decorated trees fill up the 700-year-old church.

Businesses and organisations, and individuals, can get involved by providing a tree, which can be decorated during the set-up day at the Minster on Monday 2 December, between 10am and 4pm.

A donation of £10 per tree will go to the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal Fund, which is this year benefitting Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University and Cruse Bereavement Support.

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Mark Collinson, said: “This is a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit.

“We want to spread communal goodwill and festive joy.

“Businesses and organisations get the chance to promote their cause while also showing off their creative talents, and the whole thing benefits local good causes – what could be better?”

Any trees that are entered will need to be taken down at the Minster on Monday 6 January between 10am and 4pm.

Anyone decorating a tree is asked to use battery powered lights only.

All are welcome to visit the Festival at the Minster, which has general opening hours of 10am-4pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Entry to the Minster for visitors is free.

To get involved in the event, or for more information, call the Civic Office on 01482 615093.
