5 things to do in Hull this weekend

Millions who lost their lives in the First World War and subsequent conflicts will be remembered in Hull this weekend.

The city is also hosting a famous portrait of one of its most celebrated sons, a performance about one of its unsung heroes, the return of a YouTube sensation and the bizarre misadventures of a family-friendly character.

Here are 5 things to do in Hull this weekend:

Sunday 11am
Free

Hull’s annual service of remembrance will mark the 101st anniversary of the 1918 armistice. The service will take place at 10.55am, with a two-minute silence at 11am.

3. Jonathan Pie: Fake News

Saturday 7.30pm
From £19

If no news is good news, then good news is fake news. Tickets are still available for the visit of Jonathan Pie, who returns to the road once more to berate the people in power – and the journalists apparently holding them to account. The exasperated news reporter’s videos have been seen across the world. His previous two tours have taken in venues such as the Hammersmith Apollo, London Palladium and Hull City Hall. Get tickets here.

4. Coming Home: William Wilberforce
Ferens Art Gallery

5. Stick Man
