Love Your Neighbourhood: Beverley and Newland area receives tidy-up treatment

The Beverley and Newland area is the latest area to be supported by Hull City Council’s Love Your Neighbourhood project.

Streets across the Beverley and Newland Ward are now basking in the glow of a much-needed makeover, thanks to Hull City Council’s ambitious Love Your Neighbourhood initiative.

As part of the citywide project, several streets within the area underwent a comprehensive tidy-up, between Monday 22 July and Friday 2 August, leaving the streets transformed and residents with a renewed sense of pride in their community.

During this period, the team carried out a range of clear-up tasks, including grass verge edging, grounds maintenance, and street cleaning.

The streets included were Stanbury Road, Boulsworth Avenue, Beechcliffe Avenue, Emmott Road, Oxenhope Road, Windle Avenue, Cullingworth Avenue, Silsden Avenue, Steeton Avenue, and Denholme Avenue.

Additionally, the team also transformed Parkstone Road, Welwyn Park Avenue, and Welwyn Park Drive.

Residents have praised the work of the team and the difference they have seen in the look and feel of their neighbourhoods.

Councillor Jack Haines, portfolio holder for communities at Hull City Council, said: “I am delighted to see such a positive transformation take place within the Beverley and Newland area.

“The tidy-up efforts have not only made the neighbourhood more appealing, but it has also brought the community together – with residents telling us how delighted they are with the work carried out.”

The council are also encouraging residents across the city to take pride in their communities by helping with litter picking, and the removal of graffiti.

To support residents, the Love Your Street team can loan: adult and child sized litter pickers; hi-viz vests; graffiti removal kits; litter collection sacks; and gloves.

Any waste collected, which cannot go in domestic bins, will be collected by the team.

Cllr Haines, added: “As well as caring for the environment, Love Your Neighbourhood is about getting residents involved and bringing communities together to care for the areas they live in.

“By getting involved with litter picking and graffiti removal residents can help make a visible difference, connect with their neighbours, and leave an ongoing legacy in the area they live.”

Love Your Neighbourhood is a citywide tidy-up programme designed to tackle small areas one at a time.

The team tidy each area over a two-week period, after which residents should see a noticeable difference in the look and feel of their neighbourhood.
