New splash pad opens for the summer

Families and visitors to Hull are now able to enjoy a wide range of free waterplay facilities this summer, including the recently completed new splash pad at Bude Park which has now opened.

Works have been completed in time for the summer holidays as part of a refurbishment undertaken by Splash Pads Enterprises Limited.

The previous facility in north Hull was no longer functional and the new splash pad provides a safer, more exciting and environmentally sustainable replacement, ensuring local communities have free-to-access amenities on their doorsteps.

Families can now enjoy the splash pad seven days a week from 10am – 5pm during the summer holidays.

Paddling pools at Ings Road, Oak Road and West Park are all now open for the summer holidays.

Splash pads at East Park, Alderman Kneeshaw and West Park, which has previously been open on weekends only since May, are now be open daily.

Cllr Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and leisure at Hull City Council, said: “Our waterplay areas are some of our city’s most popular summer attractions.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy free and accessible water activities on their doorstep.

“Hopefully we will continue to have some lovely weather and see the facilities full throughout the summer.”
