Marketplace drop-in event to showcase education and training opportunities for young people with SEND

Hull City Council is hosting a marketplace event for Hull young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

It’s a chance for young people and their families to find out more about their options and support their preparation for adulthood.

The event is aimed at young people with SEND aged 14-25 and takes place on Wednesday 26 March, from 10.00am – 6.00pm on the ground floor of the Princes Quay Shopping Centre.

Attendees will be able to meet with education and training providers, adult social care providers, health workers, agencies supporting transition and the voluntary sector to find out what they have to offer and help future planning.

This is an annual event which helps young people with SEND and their families make informed choices about the options and raise awareness of the support available to help with transition and preparing for adulthood. It will also highlight supported internships which can help young people with SEND into employment.

No booking or tickets are required, attendees are welcome to drop by at their convenience.

Councillor Linda Tock, the portfolio holder for Children, Young People and Family Services at Hull City Council, said: “This event is now in its fourth year and has become an established cornerstone occasion for all stakeholders. It is a wonderful opportunity for young people with SEND to learn about the broad range of options and agencies supporting them as they prepare for adulthood. We want to help raise the aspirations of young people with SEND in Hull and help them, along with their parents and carers, plan a successful pathway from education through to employment.”
