The annual Remembrance Sunday service and parade will take place this Sunday, as Hull will once again remember the millions of people who lost their lives in the First World War and subsequent conflicts.
The military parade will depart Queen Victoria Square at 10:25am on Sunday 9 November, moving down Carr Lane, and then turning north at the Ferensway junction to the Cenotaph.
A service will then commence at 10:55am, and will include wreath laying, along with the observation of two minutes of silence at 11am.
The Lord Mayor’s chaplain, the Reverend Louisa Haynes, will join clergy from Hull Minster to conduct the service, which will be followed by the Lord Mayor and Admiral of the Humber, Councillor Cheryl Payne, taking the salute at the march past.
The Lord Mayor said: “Remembrance Sunday is a poignant occasion in Hull, a city that knows more than most what horrors war can bring.
“We will remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms.
“Thousands attend the annual service in our city, and it is good to see so many people coming out to pay their respects.
“I’m also very pleased that representatives from HMS Iron Duke will be with us this year, after her recent return to the city.”
The Remembrance Sunday service is co-ordinated by Hull City Council in partnership with the Royal British Legion Hull branch and 150 Regiment.
Several road closures in Hull city centre will be in place from 6am on Sunday morning to allow for a safe area before the parade leaves Queen Victoria Square.

It’s anticipated that all road closures will be lifted by 1pm, but Hull City Council staff will be on hand to help drivers with any questions around car parks and access in the city centre.
Humberside Police officers will also be present and available for public engagement and reassurance.
A smaller Armistice Day service will follow at the Cenotaph on Tuesday 11 November, organised by the Royal British Legion Hull branch, which the Lord Mayor will also attend.
People are invited to gather from 10:45am, with the service beginning at 11am.
