Employment in Hull is once again at its highest level on record, new figures have revealed.
The total number of employed residents in the city rose by 1,600 during the third quarter of 2018, when compared to the previous quarter, according to the latest Hull Data Observatory statistics.
As a result, the total employment rate in Hull rose from 69.7% to 70.8%. Over the same period, the national rate rose from 75.2% to 75.3%.
The data shows 122,500 residents are in employment – meaning 2,700 more employed residents in Hull than in the same period in the previous year.
Councillor Daren Hale, deputy leader of Hull City Council, said: “Hull is enjoying a tremendous period for employment, as revealed by these great statistics.
“The city continues its economic recovery not just in terms of fighting unemployment, but also in attracting investment, building schools and creating new housing.”
Unemployment in the city is also once again at its lowest level, having fallen by 200 people during the third quarter of 2018 when compared to the previous quarter, the figures revealed.
It shows there are 8,100 unemployed residents of Hull – 300 fewer than during the same period last year. That means total unemployment rate in Hull has fallen from 6.4% to 6.2%.
