Try out pre and post-natal wellbeing sessions at the free Us Mums event

Pregnant women and their partners with young families with children aged 0-5 are invited to come along to the free ‘Us Mums’ event.

It takes place at Woodford Leisure Centre on Friday 8 September, from 12pm – 2pm.

The Healthy Lifestyles team at Hull City Council will be offering tasters of pregnancy exercise sessions such as Pregnancy Yoga, Boxing Fitness. All activities are delivered by fully qualified pre and post-natal instructors who can adapt activity to individual trimesters.

The event sets out to promote what is on offer via Us Mums and its partners for new and expectant parents to help their physical health and wellbeing during and after birth. Us Mums provides a weekly timetable of events from Buggy Walks to Aqua Natal, through to Mum and Baby Swim sessions, offering social opportunities for mums and their little ones to spend time together and bond with other new and expectant parents.

There will also be play-based taster sessions that the team run, such as Tots Football, Tots Dance, Baby Yoga, and more.

Other agencies will be hosting stalls at the event, where attendees can learn more information on the services they offer, such as Hull’s children’s centres (soon to be Family Hubs), the health visiting team and Early Help, the Doula project and infant feeding support.

Other family members like dads, partners, aunties, uncles and grandparents are all welcome too.

Councillor Linda Tock, the portfolio holder for Children’s Services at Hull City Council said: “This free event is a great opportunity for our local families to come together and have some fun, while learning more about the fantastic range of play sessions that are on offer.

“The sessions are free, fun and a great opportunity to meet other parents and bond with your baby or toddler.”
