Two of Hull’s much-loved summer events will come together in this city centre this weekend.
Lord Mayor’s Hanse Day 2019 – a combination of International Hanse Day and the Lord Mayor’s Gala – will bring a hive of activity to the city centre.
On Saturday 8 June, the Lord Mayor will officially open the event in Queen Victoria Square at 10am.
It will feature staged events including singing, dance and spoken-word performances, as well as free face-painting and children’s craft activities.
In Trinity Square, a medieval market will be set up with crafts, confectionery, pottery, jousting, musical workshops for children and a fire-breathing jester.
The annual International Hanse Day and Lord Mayor’s Gala are coming together to create Lord Mayor’s Hanse Day 2019.
Pop-up performances will take place in Whitefriargate, while a craft market will open in Trinity House Lane.
Councillor Dave Craker, portfolio holder for leisure and tourism, said: “We’re really excited about merging these two great events together this year into something much bigger and much more diverse.
“We’re also thrilled that once again we will be celebrating our historical Hanse links and giving people the opportunity to find out more about our association with the league.”
The Lord Mayor’s parade will begin outside the Ferens Art Gallery at 12.30pm, before travelling down Whitefriargate and finishing in Trinity Square.
