Hull libraries are inviting children to enter a world of stories, characters and imagination this month.
The Big Malarkey Festival returns from Wednesday 26 to Sunday 30 June in East Park.
Before then, a series of free children’s reading sessions will celebrate the magic of the bedtime story.
Families are invited to visit their local Hull library to join in with Pyjamarama, a month-long schedule of reading sessions.
Run by BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity, the scheme delivers books and resources to under-fives across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, working closely with libraries, children’s centres and other partners to help transform lives by getting children and families reading.
Christine Hill, principal librarian at Hull Libraries, said: “There’s nothing quite like a bedtime story. Celebrating the ritual of the bedtime story is a great way to incorporate reading into your every day routine. By getting into the habit when children are young, it can help instil a love of reading for both parents and children.
