Hull City Council has reiterated its zero tolerance approach to people caught illegally depositing rubbish in the city after three separate £1,000 fixed penalty notices were handed out.
The first fine was issued when a local resident was seen dumping bagged and loose household waste on Harlech Close in July. This was reported by a member of the community.
The two other fines were issued in response to fly tipping captured on mobile CCTV cameras in October.
The first incident involved a person depositing household waste on West Parade and the second when a sofa was seen being dumped on Grafton Street.
Cllr Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment at the council, said: “Fly tipping is a crime and we do not tolerate it in Hull. It is unsightly, potentially harmful to human health and damaging to the environment.
“We urge residents to dispose of their waste in the correct way using our accessible services, schemes and household waste centres across the city.
“We also encourage residents to report those who do not dispose of their waste legally.”
