Care to Dream will return

Free football sessions return for young care leavers

‘Care to Dream’ football sessions will return thanks to Hull and East Riding Leaving Care Teams and the Tigers Trust.

The sessions, aimed at young care experienced people aged 16-25 years, will kick-off again next week, joint funded by Room 42 and the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation.

These free sessions are aimed at care leavers aged 16yrs plus or care experienced, who are also invited to the launch event at the Tigers Trust Arena next Tuesday (7 October) from 4.30pm and will include a kickabout, food and drinks, information of the many programmes and support that Tigers Trust offer, as well as an appearance from a Hull FC player with a ticket giveaway to a future match.

There will also be testimonies from young people and a talk from the Young People’s Regeneration Champions.

Cllr Linda Tock, portfolio holder for children’s services at Hull City Council, said: “We work incredibly close with The Tigers Trust which does a fantastic job offering a wealth of opportunities to our care leavers.

“The Care to Dream programme has proved very popular so I’m delighted to see it return.”

Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families and education at the East Riding of Yorkhshire said: “We are proud to work in partnership with Hull City Council and the Tigers Trust and in doing so have created a space where young people can thrive, both on and off the pitch.

“These sessions are about more than sport; they’re about building confidence, nurturing ambition, promoting physical health and well-being and connecting care-experienced young people to their communities, to new opportunities, and most importantly, to each other.

“We can’t wait for the launch event and to support the weekly sessions thereafter and hope many of our young people join the fun!”

October will also see an event return to the Tigers Trust Arena as part of Care Leavers Week which will include a football match between care leavers and their personal advisors.
