Hull History Centre’s archives will reopen on Wednesday 5 August.
The History Centre, which houses city and University of Hull archives, as well as the local studies library, has been open for a select and collect library book service since Wednesday 28 July.
The History Centre is operating in accordance with Public Health England guidance.
Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “The History Centre archives are an important resource for many people in the city so I’m delighted that we will be able to reopen them this week.
“As always, we ask users to listen carefully to staff and guidance when visiting the History Centre and follow the important procedures that are in place.”

The History Centre will be open 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm as follows:
From Wednesday 5 August:
Select & Collect service – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Archives & reference material – Wednesday & Friday
Visitors should e-mail or telephone the History Centre to make an appointment.
When accessing the History Centre, visitors are asked to maintain a responsible distance from each other and follow the one-way systems that will be clearly marked on the floor and through signage.
Councillor John Fareham, chairman of the History Centre Board, said: “Staff have worked tirelessly to create an environment that can welcome visitors back to the History Centre. This has been done alongside also ensuring that the centre has offered an online service during the pandemic.
“As chairman of the History Centre Board, I thank them for their efforts and look forward to seeing users return to the centre.”
From Saturday 8 August, visitors will be required to wear face masks in accordance with Government guidance.
Hand sanitiser points are also in use and all visitors are asked to sanitise on arrival.
