Today, Monday 3 March, parents of children starting secondary school in Hull in September 2025 will be offered a school place.
This year, over 85 per cent of pupils have received their first choice of school and 96 per cent have been offered one of their choices.
These are both increases from the 2024-25 allocation, which also saw an increase from the previous year.
Cllr Linda Tock, portfolio holder for children’s services at Hull City Council, said: “The council continues to work hard and invest in our city’s schools to ensure as many children as possible get their preferred choice of school.
“I’m pleased that the majority of children have places at one of their preferred schools, part of a continued increase over the last two years, however we will continue to work with schools across Hull to provide required places.”
As the last school inspection framework came to a close, the city had 94 per cent of all schools judged Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.
Those who applied online for their child’s place, and requested an email confirmation, will receive an email today (Monday 3 March) confirming their allocation.
Letters will be sent to all other applicants and will include appeal forms when a preferred school has not been offered.
Parents have until 12 March to reply if they do not wish to accept the place.
