Council continues crackdown on fly-tipping

Hull City Council has continued with its zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping in Hull after another £1,000 fixed penalty notice was issued.

The fine was issued following the unlawful depositing of waste on Tunis Street, just off Beverley Road.

Items were removed from a vehicle and left on the footpath in December 2025, comprising household waste including cardboard and electrical goods.

The incident was captured on one of the council’s mobile cameras installed to target fly-tipping hot spots which enabled identification of the person responsible.

The waste was removed and disposed of by the council as an additional cost to local taxpayers, with the person responsible then fined £1,000.

Cllr Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment at the council, said: “Fly-tipping is a crime and we do not tolerate it in Hull. It is unsightly, potentially harmful to human health and damaging to the environment.

“We urge residents to dispose of their waste in the correct way by using the council’s bulky item collection service and household waste recycling centres across the city.

“We also encourage residents to report those who do not dispose of their waste legally.”

Residents are reminded to dispose of or recycle waste through the correct channels via fortnightly bin collections, using the household waste and recycling facilities or by arranging bulky household waste collections.
