Annual Christmas service to be held

The annual Christmas remembrance service will be held at Chanterlands Crematorium later this month.

The traditional event, which is open to all, will take place on Sunday 14 December, starting at 2pm, where those attending are asked to arrive around 1:45pm.

It will be held in the large chapel, and will provide a chance for people to remember loved ones at a poignant time of the year.

Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for communities, Councillor Ted Dolman, said: “Whilst Christmas is a very special time for people in Hull, it can also be a difficult period if you’ve lost someone.

“We hope this service can bring comfort to anyone, whether they’re grieving someone they’ve recently said goodbye to or where they’ve been dealing with their loss for a longer period.

“Whilst there is obvious sadness involved, the service does aim to be uplifting and hopeful.”

There will be a chance to light a candle, whilst attendees can also place a remembrance dedication on a Christmas tree.

Complementary mince pies and hot drinks will be served.

Chanterlands Crematorium is on Chanterlands Avenue in Hull, HU5 4EF, where a large, free car park is available.

The service is organised by Hull Bereavement Services.
