Bids are invited to construct an exhilarating new high ropes course at Hull Karting.
Hull City Council obtained planning permission in January to build the high ropes course as it aims to develop and improve the community offer and experience at Hull Karting, providing the best up-to-date facilities for residents and visitors of Hull.
A multi-activity centre that offers a range of activities to cater for a wider audience with different levels, abilities and needs and would also ensure Hull Karting’s long-term sustainability.
The first planned stage is for a unique 20 pole high ropes course at that will be incorporated over the karting track to give a unique experience as people explore and undertake challenging obstacles in the air whilst karts race below them.
The course will culminate in a 100m zip line to provide a unique experience for customers.
It will also have special additional team building facilities, including a Jacobs Ladder and Crate stack, to enable Hull Karting to work with a variety of different groups from across the community including schools, youth groups, the voluntary sector and businesses.
This will provide a fun and exciting way to get people outdoor and involved in exercise, as well as helping to build teamwork, leadership, collaboration, communication, problem solving and trust.
Up to 12 job opportunities will also be created through the high ropes project.
Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, the council’s portfolio holder for regeneration and housing, said: “This is an exciting project and one which I look forward to seeing develop.
“Not only will it provide employment opportunities in an area of the city where it is needed, but also an additional resource for families, young people and schools to have fun and an adventure.
“I believe the high ropes course will become a community asset and it’s pleasing to see that council supporting areas outside of the city centre.”
A Decision Record published by Hull City Council authorised the tender process and inviting of submissions from suppliers within the UK High Ropes Course Builders industry via YORtender to help make this a reality.
